Wii Fit - “You’ve got amazing ab strength”

May 22, 2008 – 11:14 pm

I finished up the strength exercises today. I started with the jackknife be/c I did so poorly on that last time. The last time I played, I only touched the board once or twice during the exercise, and that was a 20 point dud. So, in my first try today, I didn’t touch the board at all. Um, yeah, that was a 0 point dud. After that I realized that you’re supposed to touch the board when you lower your feet. When I did it properly, I got a perfect 100 pt score.

The lunge exercise was not too hard for me, and I scored a 50 left / 50 right perfect score there. Although it was easy, I could feel that my thighs were being worked.

The rowing squat wasn’t very intuitive. I didn’t hear what the trainer said about keeping the dot below the blue bar, so I kept it above. That led to a bad score, and after correcting myself, I got a 93.

The single leg twist was a much faster exercise than I expected. The faster twist made this easy but not enough for me to score as well … just a 36 left / 40 right

I unlocked the Jackknife challenge where you “challenge your trainer to see who can do more Jackknivess”. The trainer was pretty lame and only did 10 reps. What kind of a challenge is that, especially when you have to do 10 reps during the normal exercise … I am guessing that the next time I do the challenge it’ll be more than 20.

Since I finished the strength exercises, I moved on to the aerobics. The hula hoops was fun, although the counter threw me off. As I did a big loop, it counted as more than one. I said I did 226 loops which was obviously way more than I did in the alloted time. The don’t tell you outright how to get a high score, but I think it’s just to swing your hips amazingly fast in big loops.

The step exercise was a big dud for me. It was sort of like DDR but with a step. I only got 2 perfects =( I need to figure out what I’m supposed to do with the blue steps to the left/right. I don’t think I was following the Mii’s properly.

I skipped the running exercises. I wasn’t interested in running in place tonight.

Finally, I got to try the balance games. They were fun! I’d say they all require some mastery. For the ski slalom, I have to remember not to overcompensate and to also lean forward more. Leaning forward increases your speed, but I think that’s also at the expense of your maneuverability. The ski jump was fun, but I’m not sure what gets you a better score. I started down the slope with my dot centered where it was supposed to be, but I am not sure when you’re supposed to begin your lifting and if you’re supposed to do it fast or powerfully. The tightrope walking was strange. I wasn’t sure what made my Mii move forward faster, and when I got to the bear trap, I jumped and missed the rope on my landing.

Finally, to end the day, I took a Body Test. My weight was down 3.3 pounds, but I’m guessing that’s mostly be/c I am still losing the weight from eating big meals earlier in the week. Anyhow, I’m glad to be closer to where I am normally. The balance tests this time was a stability test where you had to balance on one foot and a agility test where you had to shift your weight in the the right direction to guide your dot towards blue boxes. Fun.

So, my stats for the day with the nice compliments the trainer gives …
